The performance of our Mars 400 solution from Ambedded is the result of a clever combination of its three main components: The innovative unified storage solution Ceph, the eight extremely economical microservers integrated in a 1U appliance and finally the intuitive interface called Unified Virtual Storage Manager (UVS).
Ceph retains the patronage over it and organizes the redundant storage of the valuable data as a distributed open source SDS system with access to object, block and file storage. The innovative architecture of the Mars 400, with its economical, passively cooled ARM processors, ensures an exceptionally low energy requirement. Our highly available cluster trio – consisting of three 1U appliances, 24 SSDs and 21 high-capacity HDDs – requires less than 400 watts of power.

The Unified Virtual Storage Manager (UVS) helps in the shallows of the Ceph installation with its simple and clear operation. OSDs, monitors, CRUSH maps, RADOS gateways or iSCSI targets can be configured quickly. The intuitive graphical management interface allows even inexperienced users to create a cluster within 30 minutes. In the so-called dashboard, the administrator assigns virtual memory to Fast and also manages user keys, for example.
