Recycling rate massively increased: Less plastic, more environment

Our compartments - the dividers used to secure the goods during transportation - are now also made of cardboard instead of plastic.

Alternative type of packaging: Sustainable protection for IT products

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important. On the one hand, because residual waste has to be separated in a complex and expensive process and, on the other, because a high recycling rate reduces the overall proportion of waste.

This is precisely why we have further expanded our potential for improvement in the areas of packaging and transport security. For example, we now ship our hard disks in a more environmentally friendly way - in cardboard boxes.

Cardboard compartments

Now also available in practical 8- and 20-piece divisions.

Cardboard compartments are a proven solution for safely transporting and storing sensitive IT products such as hard disks, processors or memory modules. They consist of sturdy cardboard strips that are connected to form a modular grid so that each product is individually secured and protected from mechanical stress.

Compared to plastic or foam solutions, cardboard compartments offer several decisive advantages:

  1. Sustainability: cardboard is made from renewable raw materials, is biodegradable and can be easily recycled. In contrast, many plastics are difficult to degrade and require complex recycling processes.
  2. Cost efficiency: The production and disposal of cardboard packaging is cheaper than the production of plastic packaging. Companies benefit from reduced material costs and easier disposal options.
  3. Stability and adaptability: Modern cardboard materials offer high strength and can be individually adapted to the shape and size of IT products, ensuring optimum protection.
  4. Weight advantage: Compared to foam or plastic inserts, cardboard compartments are often lighter, which leads to savings in transportation costs, particularly in the logistics sector.

Packaging in transition - a step in the right direction

Usually, sensitive components such as hard disks are often shipped in foam or polystyrene. These packaging materials are sometimes difficult to sort or dispose of separately.

Weitere Schritte in Richtung Nachhaltigkeit

We are always optimizing our processes, reducing costs and acting more sustainably:

  • We reuse cardboard boxes by converting them into filling material in the packaging padding machine.
  • Instead of 1-wall cardboard, we use more stable 2-wall cardboard, which ensures better protection for the hardware during transportation.

Our exception: antistatic bags

Despite all the progress made in the field of environmentally friendly packaging, there is one area where we still have to work with plastic: Anti-static bags, or rather anti-static bags.

These special bags are necessary to protect sensitive hard disks from electrostatic discharges that can damage the hardware.
