StorMagic massively builds on SvHCI

SvHCI 2.0: Cost-effective HCI solution for edge and SME environments receives powerful update

StorMagic has unveiled SvHCI 2.0, an innovative evolution of its hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) solution that has been specifically optimised for the needs of edge locations and small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The solution combines virtualisation, storage and network functions in a single, easy-to-manage platform that can be operated at minimal cost.

SvHCI is based on the open source Linux KVM/QEMU hypervisor technology and offers companies a complete virtualisation software solution. It was developed for companies that work with limited IT resources but still require a reliable and scalable infrastructure.

Overview of the new SvHCI functions

  1. VM-level snapshots
The new snapshot feature in StorMagic SvHCI provides crash-consistent recovery with up to 16 snapshots of virtual machines or Microsoft snapshots stored for each VM. Snapshots can be used to create a point-in-time (PIT) copy of data and capture the operating system, software application or hard drive status. These snapshots preserve data sets as an important part of the backup and restore process.

  2. Edge Control, the cloud-based management interface
You can manage SvHCI with Edge Control, our cloud-based management interface that provides a single console for managing the entire SvHCI cluster. This allows you to monitor and manage your SvHCI from anywhere in the world. Edge Control helps your users to quickly identify errors, access individual server configuration data and access a server's local web interface.

  3. VM import from VMware environments into the SvHCI infrastructure
The new VM Import Wizard functionality provides a wizard-based process for importing from VMware to SvHCI, allowing direct interfacing with VMware vCenter Server to optimise the selection and management of VMs to be imported.

  4. Stretched Cluster Support
You can separate SvHCI nodes geographically to increase resilience. These nodes can be placed in different racks, separate rooms, buildings or even cities.

  5. High Availability Updates
In addition to our existing high availability (HA) features, you can now protect up to 50 VMs per cluster with HA. There is also extended support for Intel Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC).

Lightweight HCI Software, with Enterprise-grade Reliability

StorMagic understands how to manage edge environment requirements efficiently, scalably and easily using IT solutions. Conventional data centre tools or pure cloud approaches often do not fulfil this. SvHCI provides a lean, powerful solution with minimal requirements and enterprise-class reliability.

Lowering Total Cost of Ownership, without Compromise

StorMagic focusses on cost efficiency for customers. StorMagic SvHCI lowers total cost of ownership by simplifying infrastructure and reducing complexity. The streamlined, remotely controllable software can be implemented quickly and reduces the need for extensive training, support and staff. This simplicity helps organisations streamline their operations while reducing maintenance and operating costs.

Availability & Beta Programme

SvHCI 2.0 will be available for purchase here in the next 90 days. As things stand, a one-year subscription for a single server and up to 2 TB of storage space will cost around 2,000 euros.

The SvHCI Global Beta Programme for VM Snapshots is also currently being launched, giving customers and partners early access to the software and the opportunity to test it on their own servers. To find out more about SvHCI and to apply for the Global Beta Programme, click here.
