News from partner Infortrend: With EonStor GS 5000U U.2, the storage specialist launches its most powerful U.2 NVMe hybrid flash memory to date.
The first model in the high-performance U. 2 NVMe hybrid flash series- EonStor GS 5024UE - offers several significant improvements to successfully serve AI and HPC. New features include Intel Xeon scalable 12-core CPUs, 128 GB DDR5 cache (up to 1024 GB) and 100 GbE technology. The GS 5024UE thus achieves an impressive throughput of 50 GB/s and 1.3 million IOPS with a low latency of 0.3 milliseconds. This alone makes the storage units ideal for extensive workloads that require both random and sequential data access.
However, with over 700 TB of storage capacity in a compact 2U design and 24 bays, the end of the line is far from being reached. The solution can be expanded to up to 20 PB hybrid storage for growing data volumes. Each appliance alone manages up to 896 drives via JBOD - in a cluster it is even 3,584 data carriers.
Infortrend also offers a wide range of host boards. In addition to the aforementioned up to 12x 100 GbE ports, 24x 25 GbE, 12x 12 Gbps SAS or 24x 32 Gbps Fibre Channel ports can also be integrated via the six free host board slots.
As usual, Infortrend supports many operating systems such as Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise, Sun Solaris, macOS and VMware.
The following software features are included by default:
- Thin provisioning (block level)
- Scale-out (file level): 1 appliance per cluster (one appliance forms a cluster of two controllers)
- Scale-out (block level): 4 appliances per cluster
- Snapshot (block level): 64 per source volume, 128 per system
- Local replication: 4 per source volume, 16 per system
- Remote replication (file level): Support for Rsync with 128-bit SSH encryption
Additional functions can be integrated via optional licences:
