1. the Thunderbolt subnet
With the Areca SAN it is possible to provide up to 9 clients with Thunderbolt - i.e. 40 Gbit/s. All employees connected there are then their position to access over 500 terabytes on site. The production worker from the freelancer enclave naturally has a direct connection to the switch in the main office via his computer and can use it to quickly synchronize the individual projects.
2. in the actual house network
The central node in the agency itself is the 100 GbE Netgear Ethernet switch. All external and local clients are docked to it. It also has its own TrueNAS backup appliance, which permanently secures the day's work. An LTO library from Overland is available for archive tasks. This tape changer contains a complete backup of the server as well as the archive.
Archiware P5 ensures a regular slimming down of the backup volume, especially with the Synchonize module and the Data Mover add-on (currently available with a 25% discount!). Finally, already completed projects are stored in the archive and no longer occupy valuable performance memory.
A Windows server with a built-in GRAID card forms the local instance with NVMe performance and handles all compute-intensive applications from the Microsoft world. At the same time, two Apple Mac Pros access the shared NVMe storage from Infortrend - also via ATTO Fibre Channel at 32 Gbps. Finally, the fast storage system from the EonStor 3000 series has the necessary input and output performance to comfortably handle even highly loaded media workstations.
3. the roving reporter with mobile storage
With a mobile RAID system from Areca's 8050T3U series, freelancers can also temporarily store and, if necessary, edit their media on the move. LTO archiving is also possible there via SAS expansion port. The model with handle even comes with a 12-volt connection for photo safaris. This even allows fast Thunderbolt storage with battery or solar power.
